Your ability to identify and call forth your employees’ superpowers is a real attribute of great leadership.
So how do you do this?
Click on the photo below for a 6 minute video in which Dave and I share how to identify and express superpowers.
(If you’re pressed for time and just want the transcript,
send me an email with the subject line “Superpowers”.)
And here’s the article I referenced in the video:
A collaboration with David C Miller, Author of The Influential Actuary

What a good point! We never think much of the things that we’re always good at. I have the attitude that, if I am good at something, everyone else can do it, too, because I don’t think that I am special at all. I like how this is all about what we do, as opposed to a job title or a state of being.
One way to uncover a superpower is to have a deep conversation with someone you’ve worked closely with in the past, and ask how they see you, what they liked about your work. Often you will be surprised by something they share.
Earlier this week, I read an article about Glue Employees who hold everything together. They are the quiet leaders who make everybody else look good. After reading this article and reflecting on when I was an employee and now as a Coach for Founders and CEOs, I realized my superpower is being the glue —the one who makes sure things move forward and others perform at their best.
That’s great, Kim!
