“Pride is the fuel that drives the human enterprise; shame is the disease that destroys it.”

Every leader sends a message — pride or shame. In our last episode we talked about this, and how to identify which way your organization or team is leaning.
In this episode of Influential Leadership Tips, we show a quick exercise to uncover what’s motivating (or demotivating) your team… and how to shift toward pride-based leadership.
Watch this 6 minute video to see how you can better lean into pride.

How can we move more toward the pride-based side?

Hi John,
An interesting discussion.
There are menial jobs that have to be done and someone has to do them.
I have been asked to sweep up the cigarette buts from the front of the building where customers and employees stand around and smoke. I am not a smoker but I get paid the same to do that job as if I was sitting at the engineering desk. From the place in the fresh air, I can think over the other responsibilities and possibilities with a new perspective.
Yes, there are the ‘someone has to do it’ sort of tasks everywhere. The key is how you approach them, and how others treat you.
